January 26 update: CBC News also covered Mike Moffatt's take on the auto sector issue.
The claim that the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) could cost 20,000 automotive manufacturing jobs in Canada simply does not hold up to scrutiny, says Assistant Professor Mike Moffatt.
In his op-ed for Canadian Business, Moffatt outlined three reasons for this and cited the benefits of the TPP for consumers.
“Greater variety and lower prices? That is a fantastic win for Canadians, even without considering the secondary effects of Canadians spending or investing those extra dollars,” he said.
