Assistant Professor, Strategy
Krista Pettit is an Assistant Professor of Strategy, at the Ivey Business School. She adopts a strategy-as-practice (SAP) perspective, examining strategy as something that organizations ‘do’, as opposed to the traditional focus on strategy as something an organization possesses. She brings humans into strategy research by employing qualitative and interpretive methods. Krista's research highlights the ‘humanness’ of social practices by exploring the multiplicity of pushes and pulls that move strategic processes forward. Her research highlights how relatively 'hidden' but consequential forces, such as the need for belonging, understanding, recognition, and participation, shape organizational practices, strategic change, and future-making processes. Prior to returning to academia, she held senior-level positions in the financial services, software and real estate industries in Canada and Japan.
