Mengxia Zhang is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Ivey Business School, Western University (Canada). Her research employs machine learning and related analytical methods to examine how artificial intelligence (AI) and new media reshape consumer behavior and market outcomes. In a recent Management Science article, she investigated whether consumer-posted photos can serve as a leading indicator of restaurant survival, beyond reviews and other known factors. This paper won the 2018 ISMS Doctoral Proposal Competition Award and the 2018 Shankar-Spiegel Award runner-up.

Before joining Ivey, she completed her Ph.D. at the University of Southern California (USC), where she received the Ph.D. Student Outstanding Researcher Award and was nominated for the Ph.D. Student Teaching Award. She currently serves as an ad hoc reviewer for Marketing Science, Management Science, Information Systems Research, Production and Operations Management, International Journal of Research in Marketing, and SSHRC. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening.
